Is your community connected?
Join us for a practical, locally focused workshop designed to strengthen wellbeing, resilience, and connection across our rural communities.
Date: 28 May
Time: 1 – 4pm
Location: Hockey Wairarapa Pavilion, Chester Road, Clareville

In the Wairarapa, we know strong communities are built on connection, local knowledge, and looking out for each other. When tough times hit, whether it’s a storm, flood, or the pressures of everyday life, having the right support and tools can make all the difference.
The Wairarapa Catchment Collective, Rural Support Trust (with Sarah Donaldson), and WREMO (with Mel Arcus) have teamed up to bring you this hands-on workshop focused on rural wellbeing and resilience.
What you’ll gain:
Practical tools to strengthen community connection
The 5 Ways to Wellbeing and how to apply them in your community
Tips for running effective community events
Guidance on communication before, during, and after emergencies
Real-life learnings from communities who’ve been through it
Plus, take home a practical Wairarapa resource booklet - your go-to guide for building community capability, supporting wellbeing, and knowing where to turn in times of need.
Why this matters
We’re seeing more frequent and unpredictable weather events across Aotearoa. In these moments, strong local networks are everything.
Well-connected communities can respond faster, support each other better, and recover more effectively. Established catchment groups have been shown to mobilise quickly, coordinate resources, and help protect livelihoods, livestock, and people during extreme events.
Who should come?
Whether you’re part of a catchment group, a rural community, a neighbourhood network - or simply someone who cares about your local area, this workshop is for you.
