Catchment Groups

A catchment group is a community-led collective of people who share a connection to a specific geographical area - typically defined by a river catchment. These groups come together with a shared commitment to care for their local environment and support the wellbeing of their communities.

In the Wairarapa, catchment groups are taking practical, locally driven action to achieve long-term goals such as improving water quality, restoring biodiversity, building resilience to climate change, and strengthening rural communities. Each group is guided by a common vision: a healthy environment and a thriving future for the people and places they represent.
