13 November, 1.00 - 4.30pm
WBS Room, Greytown Town Centre, 89 Main Street
Pest animals are on the rise across the Wairarapa, impacting farms and native ecosystems. These challenges don’t stop at the fenceline – and they’re too big for any one landowner or oganisation to solve alone.
Join the Wairarapa Catchment Collective for an afternoon of insights and discussion on managing pest animals at a landscape scale. Hear updates on regional pest programmes, coordinated control efforts, on-farm impacts, and practical approaches.
PROGRAMME
Kirsty McCarthy, Project Lead, Wairarapa Catchment Collective – an introduction to the Collective’s Pest Project and how catchment groups are working together on coordinated pest control.
John Bissell, Backblocks Environmental – the costs and risks pests pose to farms, and the resources needed to manage them effectively.
Glen Falconer, Greater Wellington – updates on Greater Wellington's Regional Predator Control Programme and how communities can feedback and access support and resources.
Ester Dijkstra, Wairarapa Pūkaha to Kawakawa – the Predator Free Wairarapa vision and how it connects with local catchment efforts.
Jordan Munn, Trap and Trigger – practical insights on ungulate control, including culling and recovery and lessons from the Makarewa Catchment Group.

The day wraps up with a panel discussion, where you can bring your questions and ideas to the table.
